Newborn Care

Gentle care for a newborn baby

The first hundred days with a baby are joyful, exhausting and unforgiving of mistakes. HomeStaff newborn care specialists — experienced night nannies and mother’s helpers — take the night shift so parents can sleep, feed on schedule so weight gain stays on track, and keep the nursery calm, clean and safe. They are mothers themselves, screened specifically for infant care, and trained on the routines your paediatrician sets.

What Our Newborn Care Specialists Do

A newborn specialist’s shift is built around the baby: scheduled feeds with burping and settling back to sleep, night feeds so parents rest, bathing and gentle massage, sterilising bottles and keeping the nursery hygienic, tracking feeds, naps and nappies in a written log, and supporting the mother with recovery meals and light household help. As the baby grows, specialists guide tummy time, sleep routines and the first weaning foods.

How We Verify

Newborn screening is childcare screening at its strictest: police clearance, identity verification, and references from at least two families where the candidate cared for infants under one year. The interview walks through choking response, safe sleep position, fever handling and formula preparation. We prioritise candidates with their own parenting experience or formal midwife/LHV exposure. Every placement begins with a supervised session alongside the mother.

FAQs

Do you provide lactation or breastfeeding support?

Our specialists support breastfeeding mothers — positioning, night-pump logistics and mother’s recovery care. Clinical lactation consultants can be arranged separately for persistent feeding problems.

Can the specialist stay only at night?

Yes — 10pm–6am night-nurse cover is our most requested newborn service, letting both parents get full nights of sleep.

Will she follow our paediatrician’s plan?

Yes. Feed schedules, vitamin timing and sleep guidance are followed exactly as your doctor sets them, and we note deviations in the daily log.

Can she also help our toddler?

Many families combine newborn and toddler care; we shortlist specialists experienced with age gaps and confirm the workload before the trial session.

How early should we book?

Two to four weeks before your due date is ideal so the specialist is ready from day one, but we regularly arrange placements within a week for early arrivals.
